Mach Crush Baitcast Reel Review: Overview

The Lew’s Mach Crush Baitcast Reel is an all-graphite body and lightweight reel with excellent feel and performance. It is constructed of a composite graphite frame and graphite side plates.

Although it has a low profile, it has a huge 95 mm handle with oversized Winn Dri-Tac knobs. It’s a pleasure to handle, and the knobs are large and simple to grasp.

The reel offers a smooth, solid feel and various fantastic features. The line guide is among the best in this price range, and the reel has a lubrication outlet for quick oil administration to keep the gears moving smoothly.

The Mach Crush is as strong as it is smooth, with 20 pounds of drag and 10 ball bearings. It can readily cast and retrieve a variety of lures while providing the performance required to fight big fish.

Furthermore, for me, the unusual orange color scheme is an added benefit of this reel, as it stands out in the sea of black and gray that dominates the market. With that, let’s get into some more specifics about Mach Crush Baitcast Reel.

What I Like About Mach Crush Baitcast Reel

While not a perfect reel, the Mach Crush has a lot going for it. From the minimal weight to the big, comfortable handle. Lews has created a remarkable reel with an unexpected casting distance.

Big Handle

The Mach Crush has a low profile but a huge 95 mm handle. The handle shape is contoured, and the overall weight is light enough to be useful. The handle knob is larger than on prior Lew’s reels and contains Winn Dri-Tac for a secure grip even when wet. The handle knobs are substantial, and the rubber aids to keep a firm hold.

Strong Brakes

The Mach Crush has a multi-setting magnetic MSB braking system with three settings. This is made up of two distinct braking systems.

The magnetic brake, which is controlled by the star-wheel knob, is the first. The pins govern the centrifugal force, which is the second. These two systems complement each other nicely and are highly successful.

Excellent Casting Distance

The Mach Crush casts a long distance that feels like it’s in a different league when compared to other reels.

What gear ratio is best for baitcaster?

Most baitcasting reels have gear ratios ranging from 5.0:1 to 9.1:1. For most applications, the pros choose high-speed models (7.1:1 to 9.1:1) since they know it is easier to slow down a retrieval with a fast reel than it is to crank quicker with a low-speed model.

Excellent Appearance and Design

The Mach Crush features a nice design and color scheme. The orange is the ideal shade of orange, not too bright, but yet looks amazing. The reel is constructed with a graphite frame and side plates.

Mach Crush Baitcast Reel: Pros & Cons

Surprisingly, Mach Crush Baitcast Reel has a good reputation and reviews on Amazon. Let’s take a look at different reviews from various customer experiences.

Pros:

  • The star drag adjustment knob makes adjusting the drag simple and precise.
  • Internal centrifugal and magnetic brakes enable smooth and consistent braking.
The reel has a strong feel to it and is visually appealing.
  • The reel’s balance is excellent, making it simple to pitch, cast, and fight fish.

Cons:

  • It may require some initial effort to get the brake mechanism working properly.
  • Has a small line capacity and only one gear ratio is offered.

Conclusion

The Mach Crush Baitcast reel is a great all-around reel that features a wide handle, smooth operation, and excellent casting capabilities.

Despite its all-graphite construction and slightly greater price, I thought this was an excellent baitcasting reel with a lot going for it.

While they are several other reels that I prefer, I don’t believe there’s a reel that can consistently cast as far as the Mach Crush. This machine truly flies once you get your brake settings set in. If you’re looking for a 7.5:1 that can cast a mile, Lew’s Mach Crush is a must-have!
